WordPress for Android

image

Just testing out the new WordPress for Android app I just downloaded. Is it called “downloading”? Installing? Whatev.

Either way, this is either gonna be a good thing, or a bad thing. Well, bad/dangerous for me anyway. Still total win/win situation that can only lead 2 laughs for you ppl on the interwebs.

Also testing uploading a pic, so u can see I’m about to watch Avatar.

pressure to resolve

I haven’t posted a New Year’s Resolution yet.

I’ve been thinking that maybe I shouldn’t be saying “Whoop Whoop” as much as I do. But, c’mon, that’s not gonna happen.

We know they need to be realistic.

I need to think about what I want to do more of this year. I think it’s important that resolutions ADD to life, not detract. So, a proper resolution can never be something you want to do less of, it’s gotta be something you want more of.

Like, you don’t want to lose weight. You want to add years & vitality to your life.

It’s gotta be a positive.

So, I thought I’d look back at the resolutions I’ve posted before to inspire a new one.

I started this weblog in Oct. 2005, so 2006 was the 1st year I have documented.

2006 – I decided to use “yo” more. Specifically, ending sentences in yo.

2007 – It was to use “chill” as an adjective or noun more often. Not just as a boring verb.

2008 – It was to be a sparklier person. On the outside.

I don’t really know what happened in 2009. In general really. I didn’t have a new year’s resolution, & I didn’t blog much at all either.

So, obvs., I’m gonna be blogging more. But now, I’ve gotta come up w/ some slammin way to improve my daily life in the twenty-ten.

kindness of strangers

I google a lot. No, seriously, a LOT. Well, I call it googling, but I often use the Yahoo! search engine; b/c I do love Yahoo! So, googling for me is more of a verb that means doing an online search.

Anyway, I once posted about a TaxCut software problem I had & the solution to said prob. I check my stats, ppl, & I know that at least 80 ppl came to that post having searched for an answer to that same prob. & I know I helped them. But no comment from them. No, “hey dude, thanks!” or “good lookin out”. Nothin.

So, I’d like to do a post to thank 2 complete strangers.

I am 5’2″. This means that I have to look through racks & racks for “petite” or “short” on pants/jeans. I often do my jeans shopping at TJ Maxx/Marshalls, so I’m lucky to find maybe a pair or two each time I go. Sometimes I find a pair that I love, but only they’re too long.

So, I googled “how to hem jeans”, & found this post by Dacia Ray. It’s the most fantastic tutorial b/c you don’t have to cut off the hem. Her thinking is that you pay for the stitching, esp at the hem, so she shows us how to do it w/ retaining the original hem.

Here’s what I accomplished while watching Ocean’s Thirteen last Sat. (ignore my unmanicured nails)…

A couple of years ago, I wanted to make lamb curry. I’ve never even had it before, but I heard it was fantastic. So, I googled it, & found this recipe by a 2nd gen Indian gal in London. She named her blog for the 30 min train ride route she takes to & from work.

I love how both these ladies show us how to do it, w/ pictures each step of the way, which I think helps tremendously!

Anyway, I love the internet. I love how close it brings all of us, & what we all can learn from each other. Esp the simple things.

see? it’s not just you

I’ve been really busy. No, really.

busy

See? 104 other requests. No, I haven’t clicked on it to see what they are yet. I’m kinda scared to; I’m kind of a scaredy cat, & fb is always asking me do install some app or another, & Fernie just got over a virus in December that took me hours & hours (& hours!) to clear him of.

I love my job, & I am amazingly good at it. Like, unbelievably good. Like clairvoyance good. & it feels good to be really competent & good at something.

Unfortunately, I haven’t done much else. But my busy time is winding down. So, I’m sure I’ll have something to talk about soon.

Although, I have to say, I see that lil tag cloud down there, & the “complaints/hating” is so big. I have this friend who is just so incredibly bright. I mean bright in both aspects. Like clever/intelligent, but really really bright, like the sun-bright. This gal sees so much positive, & recently it made me notice how negative I can be on stuff.

This is one of the reasons I stopped blogging. B/c I saw how big that particular category in the cloud was getting. I thought “How could I be such a hater?”. So, I w/drew for a while. But then, I thought about why that category in the cloud was so big.

I know that cloud is just going to get bigger, b/c this is my outlet so that I can stay positive on life. I can’t help it that marriage isn’t an equal right. I can’t help it that ppl aren’t getting a fair trial; or that the International Criminal Court is ignoring genocide.

But I will continue to try to help it. So, I know it’s just going to get bigger. B/c I have to talk about that stuff here; or else what? I become Debbie Downer in life? & the more I talk about it here, the more searchable it is for someone else who wants to hear about it. I try to always be informative & offer links to help the cause whenever I complain about something I think it wrong.

But I am back.

I fleet, I float, I fleetly flee I fly…

I do love the Sound of Music. It’s the greatest movie ever. EV-ER.

No, that’s not opinion. It’s just fact.

Anyway, been super-busy lately, so I’ve had no time. But I didn’t want to neglect my bl*g, so I thought I’d share my tweets w/ cha.

part of the dust

So, this move over just means more work for me for a while.

I have to find all my old posts that link to myself. Like, if I’m telling a story that links back to an older story I’d told. And then fix them so that they link to the story on SweetSunshower instead of the old blogger link. Cause that’ll just redirect to the home page here. There’s over 50 of those.

There were also a TON of uncategorized posts; cause I didn’t start categorizing til early 2007 I think. I just went through most of them. Only have 34 left now.

And I condensed a lot of categories. Like fashion/style is one now, as is art/arch. Got rid of some categories altogether, like “Frank Gehry” or “John Galiano”.

Just doin some clean-up. I do have some pix I’m dying to share via the password-protect, & trust me, you gonna wanna see them! But I can’t remember the “safe place” I put my camera so I would have easy access to it when I got to my new place. Figures.

moving in more ways than 1

Oh, just read the title of last night’s post & realized that I’ve moved myself AND my blog.

I feel very relieved having this blog sittin pretty here as a wordpress blog. I love that I will be able to share more.

But I’ve also just moved back to the West Side. I love the West Side.

I found a small, lil, teeny 1-bedroom apt (it’s part of the upstairs of a house). But it’s just perfect for me. And it’s my very own. And it’s the 1st time in my whole life living by myself! I’m really excited about having my own place.

I’m moving as we speak

Hey folks,

I’m tired of having to censor myself. I want to speak my mind sometimes w/out worrying about the crazies on the internet, or particular ppl finding my blog & reading about stuff.

I want to post personal/private pictures & videos. Stuff from my life. There are certain ppl who read this blog to keep up w/ what’s going on in my life (family & friends).

So, I’ve moved my blog. I’ve also been afraid of Blogger deleting all my stuff too.

The new page is http://SweetSunshower.com.

I love alliteration. I needed it to have Sun in it definitely. And “Sunshower” is a song by Chris Cornell that I really like. In it, he says “sweet sunshower”.

It’s still under construction, but I think I’m gonna post anyway. Just pardon my dust.

Please update your bookmarks. I’m trying to figure out how this auto-redirecting works right now.

UPDATE: Sweeeeet! Figured out auto-redirecting. Now I just need to play around w/ the design element of it all. My RSS feed is updated too, so you can keep any subscriptions (igoogle, my yahoo, whatever).

I’ll be better, I swear.

Sorry, my ppls. I’ll post again. It’ll prob be boring stuff, but I do feel better when I post more often. I started this all for myself in the 1st place, & I really do need to post more for myself again.

If you don’t know this by now, I am pretty self-involved. Like, (& prob shouldn’t be admitting this to the internets) I actually do go back into my archives & re-read the things I’ve written. I’ve spent hours doing it before.

Not often, mind you. But I love re-living things. Maybe that’s what it is, not really my self-involved-ness. I do also spend hours sometimes looking through old photo albums on my computer, or video-collages I’ve made of my old photos too.

Yeah, that’s prob what it is. I just love to reminisce. Now that I think of it, you know when ppl ask “have I told you this before?”, & if they have, they don’t re-tell the story. Well, I love hearing the same story over & over (most times).

fun b-day: friends & Magpies

This past Sat. was my b-day. Like, my actual birth day, not just the day I celebrated it. It’s actually the 1st birthday I’ve had since 2005! I know that may seem hard to believe, but it was. Don’t think about that anymore. That’s not important. What is imp, is that I had a fabuloso time. (that’s just like fabulous, but in Italian stilettos)

So, on Sat, I woke up & just chilled. Had some yummy hazelnut coffee on the back deck & just watched the sky.

Oh, here’s the thing… every year, on May 17th, it is bee-u-ti-full. Gorgeous. 70 degrees & sunshine. Every May 17th. W/out fail.

So, obviously, I was really bummed out on Fri when I heard we were gonna have rain & 60 degrees all weekend. They said Sat would be rain, t-storms, & more rain. (I think I may have said “Stupid Global Warming” at least once an hour on Friday)

But all for naught, b/c it was 73 & sunny, just like God intended it to be every May 17th. Big ups to the G-o-d! Mad props at cha, baby!

Ok, maybe that last part was a lil wrong. But if you can’t be blasphemous on your birthday, then just when is it appropriate?

So, the gals & I went to D’Vine for din & drinks. I have felt that I really haven’t had any “just girls” time in a while, & it was almost detoxing to be able to have that time w/ them!

I also got to meet one of my blog-friends in real life, so that was really cool! I had “discovered” Gennifer sometime in like 2006. We both were reading the same political satire blog; there was some Cleveland-related post & when commenting, I noticed there was a like-minded Clevelander on there. Anyway, she came out & she is as cool, witty & charming in person as on her blog! We’ve been blog-friends ever since!

Then, we went on to see the Magpies play at one of my favorite places. They were so much fun, & I don’t know if it was just me, but I think it was prob the best performance I’d seen from them this past year!!! They were really into the music. And it was super-cool of them to wish me a happy birthday & play a song for me. But then again, I’ve been to every single one of their shows (except the weekend of my sister’s wedding) for a long, looong time. And my bff & I always bring at least another 10 ppl, who now love the band too!

*sidenote: you may remember me talking about the Whiskeyhounds back in the day. The Whiskeyhounds are now the Magpies. You know, like how Puffy is now Diddy. Just like that.

Oh, & one more thing… The Magpies were on NPR recently on Around Noon. If you click on that link, it’ll take you to their interview. You can ff to around 31 minutes, that’s where their part starts.
