Just testing out the new WordPress for Android app I just downloaded. Is it called “downloading”? Installing? Whatev.

Either way, this is either gonna be a good thing, or a bad thing. Well, bad/dangerous for me anyway. Still total win/win situation that can only lead 2 laughs for you ppl on the interwebs.

Also testing uploading a pic, so u can see I’m about to watch Avatar.

interesting linx

Ok, so not much to report, so I’m just gonna show some link love. Can you tell I’ve just had a 3-day weekend? That means time to surf the internets.

And here are the things I found interesting…

Danger Mouse is in a legal battle w/ his label; so his next album is a 100+ book w/ a blank cd-r enclosed. Feel free to pirate.

10 things you never knew about the Eiffel Tower.

The breakdown of the average student budget.

100 obscure & remarkable cd covers.

Top 100 Comic Book Villains of all time.

Top 10 lasting (mis)quotes.

And b/c I saw Star Trek this weekend, here are some Trekkie links:

Find the right Star Trek for your movie watching needs.

How big is the new Enterprise compared to the old one?

And this. Le piece de la resistance. If you didn’t click on any of the links above, but you enjoyed either Star Trek OR Star Wars, you need to check out this youtube vid.

nu-uh, they’ve got Milk!

Remember a couple years ago, how interested in Milk I was?

Click on this screenshot of my archived post to read it:

penn on lf, milk on rt

I was just fascinated w/ Harvey Milk & I still haven’t seen that documentary that I wanted to.

Well, I just found out that they’re doing another movie about Harvey Milk & Sean Penn’s gonna play him. Oh, oh , OH, & there’s MORE! Gus Van Sant is directing! My Own Private Idaho was one of my fave movies! If you love Shakespeare, you have to see it!

I’m not a huge Sean Penn fan, but I am a big Harvey Milk fan & a big Gus Van Sant. I’m definitely not going to miss this one. Hopefully, I’ll have seen that 1984 doc by then too.

that’s how you slap a racist diva

How comes we don’t convict racists & bigots here in the US like they do in France?

They mean ill-will & harm to a particular group of ppl. How many ppl die here in the US b/c of their race, religion, gender (transgender), or sexual-orientation? How many are harmed or die, & it goes unreported? It’s sickening.

story:
Brigitte Bardot wrote a letter to (then) Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy. In the letter, she provoked discrimination and racial hatred; stating that Muslims are destroying France.

She wrote that France was “tired of being led by the nose by this population that is destroying us, destroying our country by imposing its acts.”

Her statements were also published in her foundation’s quarterly journal.

France has anti-racism laws that “prevent inciting hatred and discrimination on racial or religious or racial grounds”. Bardot has already been convicted four times for this in the past.

heehee…. he said huckleberry

Now for another installment of conversations in real-life:

My dad talkin to my sister on speaker-phone w/ my mom & me. He’s trying to describe an actress to her.

pappa: She looks like that woman… you know… from the James Bond movie…… Huckleberry.

my sis: huh? Huckleberry?

mom: HALLE BERRY!!!

hee hee. Yeah, not much, but it kinda cracked me up. Cause we all know my history w/ Halle Berry.

Batman vs. The Dark Knight

Whoa…. have you guys seen this? My girl emailed it to me earlier this week, but of course I can’t watch video at work, so I just saw it now.

It’s the Trailer from Batman ’89 playin simultaneously w/ the new Dark Knight Trailer.

Pretty cool…. although it could just be that I can’t get enough Batman stuff. I CANNOT WAIT for this movie to come out!

snowed in

So, I’m kinda bummed. Was really excited about going to a pre-show party tonight for Red {an orchestra}. My good friend & I had gotten tics to this Cool Cleveland party before the show. It was an open bar w/ appetizers catered by another friend of ours (who owns Gypsy Beans & does the yummiest catering). So, we were pretty psyched* about it.

Red {an orchestra} was doing a night of movie music….

BERNARD HERRMANN: MORE THAN THE MOVIES | 3.8.08

Red’s sixth season comes to an exciting conclusion with a concert featuring the music of film composer Bernard Herrmann, whose scores for classic films of Alfred Hitchcock–Vertigo, North By Northwest and Psycho–are unmatched in their distinctive style. His style as a film composer, keen psychological atmospheres made with simple means, was formed in his concert music. His early pieces in the manner of his idol, Arnold Schoenberg, matured as he worked in radio and then Hollywood, his ambition remaining high, even as his film music eclipsed all other efforts. In this unique program, film clips featuring Herrmann’s Hollywood music mingle with a suite from Psycho, and work from his time in the 1930s at CBS Radio. The highlight of the program is a group of excerpts from his unproduced opera, Wuthering Heights, perhaps the greatest unknown opera in the history of American music.

Sounds cool, huh? I KNOW! I was really looking forward to it, but just hoping now that they may reschedule. I mean, they’ve all been rehearsing for this show for a few weeks, I’m sure.

So, they were planning on doing a bunch of pieces that composer Bernard Herrmann did for Alfred Hitchcock’s movies, but they were going to do excerpts from an unproduced piece too?!?!?! Seriously?!

They HAVE to reschedule!

Oh, did I mention the reason everything’s cancelled? B/c of the winter storm. We were so ready to brave it. I went out there to my car. The snow drifts are 3 to 4 feet, I made it to the garage w/ the help of my trusty snow shovel. Then I opened the garage door……

Yeah, that wasn’t gonna happen. No way my Corolla’s makin it out of the garage. So, I call my girl to see what it’s like where she is, cause I can make it to the end of the street w/ my snow shovel. She gets outside, & makes it as far as the end of the street….

No more.

Dude, you’ve gotta give us credit for tryin though. So, we’re on the phone figuring out that this is just not gonna happen for us tonight, & go back into our respective homes. I get upstairs & turn on the news, & see that in some counties, the police are actually fining/ticketing ppl who are out on the street if it’s not an emergency!

*do ppl still say psyched?

Cloverfield Slushos

Or, A special post for Chaylene
Hey Chaylene,
I was going to respond to your comment, but then I sorta started rambling, & figured I’d do another post.

So, this is actually kinda an extension to yesterday’s post about the Transformers movie. I mentioned the mystery trailer preceding the movie. It’s supposed to be some new sci-fi-ish monster-ish movie by our very own Bad Robot. I’m pretty interested in this movie, & I know a bunch of other ppl are too, so I figured I’d collect everything I know so far into one post, & maybe we can make some predictions. It’s turned into so much more than the movie for me, I love a good real-life mystery. My boss once told me I should’ve gone into work for the FBI or become a private detective. I love this stuff.

The only real official site so far is 1-18-08.com. It’s only got snapshot pics on it. But every so often, they add a new pic, & you can click on each pic & drag it around your screen. Ya, sorry, but that’s all I’ve got so far.

JJ says that there’s a few other movie websites out there, but I guess it’s a viral marketing campaign, & they’re not telling what the actual sites are. JJ wants us to find em for ourselves.

May be true stuff
There’s another website called Slusho.jp that some have confirmed is an official website for the movie; but I’m not buyin it unless I hear it from an official Bad Robot or Paramount source. Slusho is a (fictional) frozen drink (Slushie) that Vaughn offers Sydney when they first meet in that official debriefing in Alias.

Not really true stuff
I guess there are some “Ethan Haas” websites out there supposedly about the movie, but they’re fake. Also, ParasiteMovie.com is a fake. So, I haven’t even gone to them, b/c they might cloud my judgment. Yeah, that’s how into my detective work I get. And there’s rumors that the monster might be Cthulhu Mythos or Godzilla, or might tie in w/ Lost; but I’m not buyin that either. Very skeptical, am I.

Ok, so I’ll update this as I find out more stuff (unless I get too lazy). I did post that YouTube video that shows the trailer in my previous post, but Paramount might have their lawyers take it down. If so, you can go to Apple’s site, b/c Paramount gave them the trailer (well, teaser really, right?) to post there. You can go to Apple.com to see it, or you can click on the pic for the teaser to the left.

autonomous robotic life forms

Ok, I haven’t posted in a while, & don’t have much of any substance to say, so I’ll tell you about my night. I saw Transformers last night. I didn’t know what to expect of it, since everyone only ever rips apart Michael Bay. The only other movie he’s ever directed that I’ve seen is Bad Boys II, & I liked that movie too. But Transformers was really very cool, it did blow me away. It had action, but it was pretty funny too. The transformers weren’t like in the cartoon; they were emotional, & even cute at times. I know that sounds kinda weird; but there’s a scene where they’re sneaking around, & they come off as cute & funny there. I wasn’t expecting for the robots to show emotion like they were able to portray them; it was just a pretty cool movie.

Oh, but be prepared for some major product placement. When the transformers are introduced, it’s like a GM commercial. Seriously. It did make me laugh though; well, a lil snicker anyway. I mentioned to Mr. T on the way home that only the good guys (Autobots for those of you who care about these things) were the GM cars, while the bad guys (Decepticons) were vague car types (fighter jet, tank, asst. general cars). Mr. T pointed out that the police car was one of the bad guys too, & it was a branded car. I did notice it was a nice, shiny car; but couldn’t remember any branding on it. All the other cars were obviously branded, & were very conspicuous throughout. So, I looked it up, & he’s right. Here’s a shot of the Saleen police car at the LA Transformers movie premiere. Apparently, Barricade (the Decepticon) transforms into an S281 Saleen, which is a modified Ford Mustang. But he’s the only bad guy branded car I noted then (after Mr. T pointed him out).

Anyway, I totally thought it was worth seeing in the theatre. Oh, & we went to Valley View! I do love Valley View, with it’s reclining, super large comfy seats! And the whole way home, I was inspecting the cars on the highway, esp the big ole semi. It’s all good though.

OH- Sorry, one more thing… Before the movie, you know how they have trailers for other stuff? Well, they had a teaser for some cool-lookin movie, but it didn’t give the name of it. BUT (& here’s the best part), it’s made by J.J. Abrams!!! Now, I do love me some JJ (well, his work, not the man himself), I loved Alias; so I know this is gonna be good. Anyway, imdb has an untitled project of his coming out on 1-18-2008, but no real info on it. Some ppl are saying it’s a remake of Godzilla, but I believe in my heart that it’s not. That’s all I’ve got. What I believe; & I like to trust my gut. So, you’ve heard it here 1st, it’s not a Godzilla remake. Only time will tell. Oh, & here’s the trailer for it:

resenting authorities everywhere

I know I’m not being a posting machine; it’s only cause I have a lot of stuff going on, & have no time. I get up early in the morn for work, don’t really return home until 10 pm (or later, or the next day sometimes), & have barely anytime to do anything. I’m thankful for the day off work tomorrow b/c it means I can do laundry & have some clean clothes again. I’m also thankful for Mr. T, cause he did all my dirty, dirty dishes. And there were quite a few.

Even though I’m not posting, I’m still reading y’all’s blogs & the news. So, I saw an article about Oliver Stone requesting to make a documentary about Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Well, the Iranian prez rejected the offer b/c Stone is part of “Great Satan” cultural establishment.

The media advisor to the Prez said, “I sent a negative answer by Ahmadinejad to Oliver Stone…. It is right that this person is considered part of the opposition in the U.S., but opposition in the U.S. is a part of the Great Satan.

This is all fine & good. If someone thinks someone else is a Great Satan, then of course they would want nothing to do w/ that person.

*total sidenote: I think I’m really digging that term “Great Satan”… there’s this whore that I completely hate (like really hate as a human being, seriously). And, I have a name I call her, but it’s way worse than whore (whore being the more publishable word; & no, it doesn’t involve the ‘f’ word, it’s waaaay worse). But I think I will also start to refer to her as a “Great Satan”.

Anyway, the whole point of this post is what Oliver Stone said in response. I found it quite funny.

I have been called a lot of things, but never a great satan. I wish the Iranian people well, and only hope their experience with an inept, rigid ideologue president goes better than ours.

The pic to the left is of from Feb 2002 when Stone spent 3 days w/ Fidel Castro for his documentary of him, Comandante. I think it’s a cool looking picture. And the pic above is my montage of finger pointing that cracks me up. It’s really only there for me, b/c I’m sure no one else will find it as funny as I do.
